"Summer Hike to Avalanche Lake"
14x18", oil on masonite
This painting was done from a compilation of on-location sketches and watercolor pieces. It was inspiring to see people enjoying exercise as well as the natural beauty of this place.
Painting flowers never seems to get old, as we bring a bit of nature indoors. Humble, sweet violets made for a still life opportunity and have since found a wonderful home.
Two of my paintings, "Susquehanna from York Haven" (top left) and "City Island Summer Boats"(bottom left) are part of an invitational show, "Susquehanna Sonata", at Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in conjunction with the Harrisburg Art Association, December 2017-February 2018.
These plein air paintings highlight the glories of summer. So glad that a bit of summer can continue, as the first and third pieces have found a good home.
These paintings were done on the same warm Spring day. Blooms were coming through and the Susquehanna waters reflected that. Both paintings can be found at Gallery@Second, downtown Harrisburg, PA.
